2023 Donor Impact Report

The University of Montevallo Foundation is proud to present its 2023 Donor Impact Report. We’ve raised more than $7 million this year and we had 1,200 new donors. We also established 28 new programs and scholarships and hosted 39 advancement and alumni events.

This report is the UM Foundation’s way of showing transparent accountability of how donor funds are utilized to advance the mission of the institution in all of its educational, instructional, service, charitable and outreach efforts. We are thankful to the many donors who allow the UM Foundation to safeguard the resources entrusted to its stewardship and care to serve the interests of its investors.

Important things to remember:

  • This report only contains information about University of Montevallo Foundation funding from its donors. It does not contain information about institutional funding provided by the state of Alabama as a public state institution.
  • Donor restricted funds are created and utilized under the criteria guidelines established by the donor. Unrestricted funds are utilized for the areas of greatest need across campus.
  • Athletic scholarships are predominantly funded by institutional funds, not Foundation funds.

Dear Montevallo family,

Dr. John W. Stewart III

There is an old fundraising axiom that individuals give of their time, talent and treasure to save lives or change lives. Thanks to your enduring generosity, our graduates are indeed saving lives as physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, researchers, scientists, mental health counselors, and social workers. And they are changing lives as teachers, educational administrators, speech pathologists, communication specialists, journalists, diplomats, writers, artists, actors, musicians, computer scientists, historians, entrepreneurs and peace makers.

Your investment to the University provides a platform for faculty to enrich students with the critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills necessary to save and change lives. The red brick streets have served as the backdrop for paving a new path in life, building life-long relationships and constructing dreams that have become true for all who have traversed them. And now, we stand on the bricks together, producing a new generation of engaged, thoughtful citizens who lift up their communities and change our world – one Montevallo graduate at a time.

With gratitude,

Dr. John W. Stewart III
