Michael Willett is an Assistant Professor of Art and director of the foundations program at the University of Montevallo. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning in 2009 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Painting from the University of Montevallo in 2006.
Willett’s studio practice primarily involves site-specific installations, collage, painting and screen-printing on canvas. His work has been exhibited internationally and acquired in both private collections and public institutions. Recent exhibition venues include: the South Bend Museum of Art in South Bend, IN, Part Time Studios in Philadelphia, PA, That Galley in Hong Kong, China, Ernest Rubenstein Gallery in NYC and Pratt’s Manhattan Gallery in NYC.
Willett is also involved in a four man conceptual artists collective know as SLAPface. The group’s recent exhibitions include solo shows Semantics Gallery in Cincinnati, OH and Backspace in Peoria, IL.
