Charge
The charge of the Technology Advisory Council TAC is to consider, review, and recommend campus technology policies and procedures to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). TAC membership is comprised of campus-wide representation all colleges; the library; and operational departments, units, and offices.
Subcommittees
The following standing subcommittees consist of members of TAC and are charged with addressing specific areas of IT governance and operations.
Executive
The Executive Subcommittee, made up of the two TAC co-chairs and secretary, performs the following tasks.
• Coordinate TAC meetings by developing meeting agendas and communications.
• Record and archive TAC meeting minutes while serving as content owner for TAC webpage updates and management.
• Communicate TAC and subcommittee recommendations to the CIO.
• Communicate CIO recommendations to university administration.
Academic Support
The Academic Support Committee of the Technology Advisory Council works in conjunction with the Malone Center for Excellence in Teaching, the division of Information Services and Technology (IS&T) and the Physical Plant to identify and prioritize learning spaces in need of updates. These updates may involve technology, furniture, and aesthetics.
Committee membership shall include a representative from each department of the University, a student in good standing, a member of the Malone Center, the Associate Director of Trade Services, and the Director of Academic Support. Responsibilities of this subcommittee include the following:
Foster and support creative uses of technology for teaching and learning that promote positive student outcomes
Evaluate the current condition of the space
Advocate with the University community to ensure all constituents have a voice in and are aware of the future of technology environments for teaching and learning
Review, recommend, and promote various academic technology resources for faculty, staff, and student use
Promote academic technology and stewardship of resources across campus and in the distance learning environment
Review and recommend procedures and practices to appropriate University committees to help promote excellence, compliance, equity, and student success utilizing technology-based learning systems.
Digital Communications (website)
Working in conjunction with the divisions of Advancement and External Affairs, Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, and IS&T, this subcommittee is tasked with enforcing, amending, or waiving the policies and procedures related to the university’s digital communications. Membership includes a representative from each college, the library, and each campus division with marketing & communications, admissions, and physical plant represented separately.
Policy & Procedures
This subcommittee periodically reviews and updates existing information technology policies and develops new policies when needed.
Projects & Planning
The Projects and Planning Subcommittee works in conjunction with IS&T to review and report to TAC on IS&T projects that are in planning, underway, or recently completed. Committee membership includes at least four committee members (including IS&T staff representative, serving as chair).
